Welcome from the Head
Welcome to the School of Business Law and Taxation.
The law impacts on every aspect of business and commerce. This School teaches and conducts research in an exciting and practical range of legal areas. Studies in business law and taxation at Curtin Business School are intellectually challenging and can be a great asset in a range of careers that are held in high regard such as accounting, finance, banking, corporate administration, management and sports administration, to name a few.
Our programs cover various areas of law including: taxation, corporate law, law of torts, law of real property, law of trusts, trade practices law, employment law, social work law, family law, marketing law, media law, sports law, banking and finance law and contract law.
Our business law and taxation graduates have the ability to recognise potential legal issues and manage legal risks, understand the processes by which law is created, changed and applied to business and government and have an appreciation of the ethical issues in business situations.
Wherever possible, these programs are designed to conform to the membership standards of the relevant professional bodies that students are likely to become associated with after graduation. Students who graduate from our Accounting and Taxation double major are eligible for membership as a CPA.
As a School within CBS, the School of Business Law and Taxation is involved in research projects, including the publication of an academic journal, and consultation for external organisations and public bodies. Our academic staff within the school are highly qualified, experienced and dedicated to the high teaching standards within the University. Members of the School have been winners of the Student Guild Teaching Prize in four of the last five years.
Please feel free to browse through our web pages and find out more on our undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
